Teaching Philosophy

Ms Hansen prides herself on providing students with well-rounded musical education, encompassing a variety of styles and methods.  


She provides a nurturing and comfortable environment for students to reach their full musical potential. Every music lesson is individually tailored to the student's goals and musical endeavours, thus achieving success.


Ms Hansen teaches students from beginner up to diploma level. Her resources cover repertoire from Classical, Contemporary, Jazz and Pop.


Her students receive many awards with Honours (A) and High Distinctions (A+) with Music Exams.


Ms Hansen's studios are clean, safe and we provide a welcoming environment for her students to learn in. Parents are more than welcome to sit in on their child's music lesson.


Semester Recitals are also offered as a performance opportunity for all of her students.

BIOGRAPHY

Australian cellist, Cassandra, is an adoring musician and educator, residing in the south of Brisbane. Before creating her acclaimed teaching studio, the Hansen Grindrod School of Music, Cassandra performed as an electric cellist with the Maske Trio in which she was a guest entertainer for luxurious international cruise ships as well as numerous product launches in Hong Kong, Malaysia, French Polynesia and the United States. Cassandra has also toured extensively throughout Germany, Russia and China as a soloist and chamber musician, receiving many outstanding reviews and standing ovations. Locally she manages and performs for specialised events with The Hansen Trio, a string trio highly regarded throughout Queensland.


Cassandra holds a wealth of music teaching and ensemble directing. Her teaching expertise allows students to strive for their goals with her friendly and supportive teaching approach. She knows the importance of setting the correct technical facility to help make playing effortless and enjoyable. Cassandra's dedication to music education allows her to create a nurturing environment that inspires her students to love music and learning as much as she does.


Her teaching highlights comprise of her students winning eisteddfods at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Redlands Eisteddfod, Beenleigh Eisteddfod and MusicFest. Cassandra’s students also received many Honours (A) and High Distinctions (A+) grading awards for their music examinations. She has taught students from Brisbane Grammar School, Anglican Church Grammar School and St Peters Lutheran College.


Beginning her musical studies at the tender age of five, Cassandra’s musical prowess resulted in a scholarship at the prestigious Brisbane State High School. It was during this time that she attained her AMusA with Markus Stocker. After graduating from Brisbane State High School, Cassandra received the Sir Samuel Griffith Academic of Excellence Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Her undergraduate years were spent under the mentorship of internationally renowned cellists Meta Weiss and Simon Cobcroft.


Cassandra performs on her beloved handmade violin and cello by Ilja Grawert, and she still regularly plays with her sisters in The Hansen Trio and Maske Trio.
