2018 Studio Policy
To provide your child with the most comprehensive musical education that is available. All lessons will be tailored to suit the individuals student's goals and desires. Students will receive a holistic and well-rounded musical education to suit their level and goals for the future.
Students are responsible to arrive on time, with their books, instrument (if a string instrument) and having completed their practice. Late arrivals will not be made up as we have commitments already scheduled after their lesson is finished.
Students need to practice on a decent instrument.
For Piano Students, please make sure the piano is tuned regularly. If you own a keyboard, please make sure the keys are weighted. Advice on purchasing a new piano can be provided.
For String Students: Please ensure you bring your instrument to each lesson. Advice on servicing or upgrading your instrument can be provided.
Lessons are scheduled according to the Queensland State School Calendar.
With the Pupil and Public holidays, lessons will go ahead unless stated. If you are away on these days, you may reschedule.
Tuition not only covers the time spent with the student at their music lesson, but also the time preparing for their music lesson and as well as our business running costs, which involves:
Payment for lessons will be made in advance on a Term by Term basis. Invoices will be sent via email at the commencement of each term. All invoices are due by the end of week 2 of each term.
Lessons are not refundable.
Each term's invoice will include a $10 flat fee which covers the recital concert, maintenance of instrument (tuning), printing, and associated administration.
24 hours notice is required to receive a make up lesson. Make up lessons must be made up within the same week as the missed lesson. You are allowed 2 make up lessons per term, and then they will expire.
If the teacher is unwell, a make up lesson will be arranged or if you cannot attend, you will be credited on your next invoice.
I will host four concerts through the year, at the end of each Term. I encourage all of our students to perform and it provides a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt through the term. This concert allows gives the students a goal, a purpose to work hard and perform their piece.
Term 1 - Saturday 24 March 2018, 4pm
To sit an AMEB practical exam, students will need to be enrolled with me for at least 1 year. I need to ensure the students is ready and prepared adequately, and this includes: memorisation of scales/arpeggios, general knowledge, fluently know pieces and extra lists as well as completing the aural tests and sight reading practices.
Extra lessons may be required to be prepared for an AMEB exam. Students will also sit 1-2 mock exams in our studio to be best prepared for their exam.
To enrol in an AMEB exam, I will ask for parent consent before submitting the forms. Parents will also pay for AMEB exam fee. If it is violin or cello exam, you will need to also pay the accompanist for rehearsals and exam performance, more details will be given to you as you approach the exam.
