Composition Biography: Cassandra Hansen

It has always been Cassandra's dream to compose creative and beautiful melodies to share with other musicians. Cassandra loves the beauty of elegant melodic lines coupled with lush harmonies and textures in film scores and she draws inspiration from these in her compositions. In particular, Cassandra's favourite is Hans Zimmer's film score for The Holiday. After having some down time, Cassandra partnered up with the musical genius Daniel Grindrod to compose these fun, creative and refreshing string ensemble pieces.

As a professional musician, performer and director of string ensembles, Cassandra knows what motivates her students. This experience and knowledge is embedded into the compositions to create a rewarding musical experience for all.

After beginning her musical studies on piano at the tender age of five, Cassandra very quickly expanded her abilities by taking on the violin and cello. This led to forming the highly successful trio with her sisters, The Hansen Trio which was established in 2004 in Brisbane. From the international stages of Germany, Russia and China, Cassandra has performed as a soloist receiving many standing ovations and stunning reviews. She also regularly performs as a electric string trio with Maske Trio as a guest entertainer across luxurious international cruise ships as well as launching new products overseas in Hong Kong, Malaysia, French Polynesia and America.

After graduating from Brisbane State High School, Cassandra received the prestigious Sir Samuel Griffith Academic of Excellence Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Music (Advanced Performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. She graduated as a Griffith Honours College Scholar (Academic Excellence, Leadership and Community Engagement) and holds membership with AUSTA (Australian Strings Association), Griffith Honours Society and Golden Key International Honour Society.

You'll see Cassandra performing on her beloved handmade cello and violin by Ilja Grawert, and she still regularly performs with her sisters in The Hansen Trio.
