Australian cellist and violinist, Cassandra is an adoring musician and educator, residing in the south of Brisbane. Before creating her acclaimed teaching studio, the Hansen Grindrod School of Music, Cassandra performed as an electric cellist with the Maske Trio in which she was a guest entertainer for luxurious international cruise ships as well as numerous product launches in Hong Kong, Malaysia, French Polynesia and the United States. Cassandra has also toured extensively throughout Germany, Russia and China as a soloist and chamber musician, receiving many outstanding reviews and standing ovations. Locally she manages and performs for specialised events with The Hansen Trio, a string trio highly regarded throughout Queensland.


Beginning her musical studies at the tender age of five, Cassandra’s musical prowess resulted in a scholarship at the prestigious Brisbane State High School. It was during this time that she attained her AMusA with Markus Stocker. After graduating from Brisbane State High School, Cassandra received the Sir Samuel Griffith Academic of Excellence Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Her undergraduate years were spent under the mentorship of internationally renowned cellists Meta Weiss and Simon Cobcroft.


As an educator, Cassandra is passionate about nurturing and encouraging young minds to love performing music. Her teaching studio, Hansen Grindrod School of Music, was founded in 2018 and specialises in guiding students through AMEB exams, recitals and tertiary preparation.


Cassandra performs on her beloved handmade violin and cello by Ilja Grawert, and she still regularly plays with her sisters in The Hansen Trio and Maske Trio.
